Carmel Quinn has delighted audiences ever since she captivated the American public as part of the Arthur Godfrey family on his famed daily television show in the mid-fifties. Whether singing or telling her wonderfully outrageous anecdotes, she immediately has an audience in the palm of her hand.

After graduating from the Godfrey show, Ms. Quinn became a popular guest on many of the national television talk shows; viewers of the early Today Show, the Tonight Show, the Dick Cavett Show, the Merv Griffin Show, and Live With Regis and Kathie Lee fell in love with her unique charm and talent time and time again. ]]>The history of rock ’n’ roll would be incomplete without the innumerable contributions of Neil Sedaka.

Neil’s “Breaking up Is Hard to Do” was first released in 1962 and quickly went to #1 on Billboard’s Top 100. He re-released the song in 1975, changing the up-tempo tune into a ballad and making music history when it reached #1 once again—becoming the first song recorded in two different versions by the same artist to top the chart!

If you remember the song, in either or both versions, you and your family are sure to smile when Neil visits the library to with his brand new rendition—the inspiration for a children’s book and companion CD entitled Waking up Is Hard to Do!

The CD also includes two brand new songs (along with the “Waking Up…” rendition), entitled “Lightnin’ Jim” and “Sing,” both co-written and recorded by Neil—with backup vocals recorded by Neil’s twin granddaughters—the two who inspired him to write the book!

Freelance writer Walls doesn't pull her punches. She opens her memoir: looking out the window of ther taxi, wondering if she's "overdressed for the evening" and spotting her mother on the sidewalk, "rooting through a Dumpster." Walls's parents—just two of the unforgettable characters in this excellent, unusual book—were a matched pair of eccentrics, and raising four children didn't conventionalize either of them. Her father was a self-taught man, a would-be inventor who could stay longer at a poker table than at most jobs and had "a little bit of a drinking situation," as her mother put it. With a fantastic storytelling knack, Walls has a story to tell, and tell's it brilliantly without an ounce of self-pity.
