]]>Illustrate one of four selected poems written by African American poets and you could win a prize! The poems were selected from CorettaScott King award books.

Entries will be accepted until 3:00pm on Saturday, February 20th.

Winners will be announced on February 27th at the Celebrating the African American Family program, co-sponsored by the NAACP.

Rules

Four age categories will be judged. Prizes will be awarded for children ages 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, & 16-18.
One entry per child.
Illustration must be no larger than 8 ½ by 11.
Illustrations must not contain food.
Entries must illustrate one of the four poems selected by the library. Copies are available at the Children's Reference Desk of the Toms River Branch.
Original artwork only.
All illustrations become property of The Ocean County Library.
No entries will be accepted after 3:00pm on Saturday, February 20^th. No exceptions.

Presenter: Joseph A. Califano, Jr. is founder and chairman of the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. Mr. Califano has held various United States Government postions and served from 1977-1979 as U.S. Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare, where he launched the nation's anti-smoking campaign. As well as an author, he has been a faculty member at Columbia University, a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and currently serves on the boards for several profit and non-profit organizations.

Join us for the inside info as to how she "Daisifies" those classics dishes, many from her travels across Spain, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Argentina.

An informal conversation group for people who are learning English. The group meets every Monday at 7 pm. We have a mixed group of students who speak different languages. Together we read a newspaper called "Easy English News" which is provided by the Kiwanis Club. The group discusses topics from the paper. No registration required, new members are always welcome.

The LWV will host a forum to discuss the status of research on the health effects of nuclear radiation.

Thus far, federal agencies have relied upon adult male subjects as the basis for measuring "allowable radiation dosages." This "Reference Man" standard excludes women, children, the elderly, developing fetuses, and people with compromised immune systems.

An open mike session will follow presentations by the following guest speakers:

CINDY FOLKERS — Radiation and health specialist for Beyond Nuclear, and member of a new international delegation working to establish hearings on the health impacts of nuclear power
