			<title>Oakwood Architecture</title>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>  	<span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Back by popular demand, Wright Library and the <a href="http://www.oakwoodhistory.org/" target="_blank">Oakwood Historical Society</a> will present <strong>&ldquo;The Classic Architecture of Oakwood Homes&rdquo;</strong> on Sunday, May 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room.&nbsp; The program will be presented by Mark Risley, past-president of the Oakwood Historical Society.&nbsp;</span></span></p>  <p>  	<span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Oakwood is fortunate to have many well-preserved examples of early 20th century architecture in its tree-lined neighborhoods. They can also kill indiscriminately.&nbsp; Oakwood Historical Society past-president Mark Risley will draw upon his commercial aviation weather background to present an educational, in-depth look at these magnificent and powerful atmospheric giants. 			<title>The Town of Oakwood</title>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>  	<span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Wright Library and the <a href="http://www.oakwoodhistory.org/">Oakwood Historical Society</a> will present <strong>&ldquo;The Town of Oakwood&rdquo;</strong> Tuesday, April 17th from 7:00 &ndash; 7:45 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room.&nbsp; Advance registration is required and limited to 65.&nbsp; Contact the Reference Department at 294-7171 or by <a href="mailto:reference@wrightlibrary.org?subject=Town of Oakwood Registration">email</a>&nbsp; to register beginning Friday, April 6th.</span></span></p>  <p>  	<span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">&ldquo;The Town of Oakwood&quot; lecture will follow the creation and development of the town of Oakwood from 1872-1908, the &ldquo;rocky years&rdquo;.&nbsp; In 1872 four men purchased and platted 78 acres of rural farmland in Van Buren Township with hopes that people would follow.&nbsp; They quickly learned few people were willing to move so far out of the city.&nbsp; Three of the four investors bailed, lost their money, and died.&nbsp; An early Dayton biographer called Oakwood &ldquo;a failure&rdquo;.&nbsp; Come hear the whole story as it is presented by Mackensie Wittmer and Harrison Gowdy of the <a href="http://www.oakwoodhistory.org/" target="_blank">Oakwood Historical Society</a>.&nbsp; Additional financial support was provided by the <a href="http://www.clubrunner.ca/Portal/Home.aspx?accountid=4739" target="_blank">Oakwood Rotary Foundation</a>.</span></span></p>   <P>]]></description>

			<title>Lincoln to Visit Wright Library</title>

			<description><![CDATA[<span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">The <a href="http://www.lincolnsocietyofdayton.org/" target="_blank">Lincoln Society of Dayton</a> and Wright Memorial Public Library will welcome Abraham Lincoln on <strong>Saturday, February 4th at 2:00 p.m.</strong>&nbsp; Mr. Lincoln will share stories from his childhood, his election and the coming war.</span></span>  <p>  	<span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Mr. Lincoln plans to talk about growing up in Indiana and Kentucky, about the schools he attended and his home life.&nbsp; He will also talk about Grace Bedell, the young girl who influenced his campaign and who received a visit from Mr. Lincoln after he was elected.</span></span></p>  <span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">This presentation is appropriate for students of all ages.&nbsp; No advance registration is required.</span></span> <P>
