"Marcelo In The Real World" by Francisco X. Stork

Rating: Excellent! (5)
 <a class="url" href="http://mcpl.us/catalogs/referral_2-0.php?author_00=Francisco X.
Marcelo has a form of autism that a best described as close to Asperger's. However, Marcelo feels bad calling it that, since he has things much easier than many with Asperger's. He goes to Paterson, where he can learn at his own pace. All he wants to do is take care of the ponies at Paterson's stable. However, his father thinks he should go to public school for his senior year. He also thinks Marcelo should work in the "real world" at his law firm rather than Paterson. Marcelo agrees to work at the law firm. There he realizes that though it is a challenge to make it in the real world, he can do it. He also, however, realizes that life in the real world isn't always pretty.
I would definitely reccomend this book. This book made me think more about autism, our legal system and life in the real world in general.

"OCD Love Story" by Corey Ann Haydu

Rating: Good (4)

OCD Love Story is about Bea, a teenage girl who goes to an all girls private school, and you guessed it, has OCD. Throughout the book, Bea struggles with her mental illness and goes through the ups and downs of having OCD. One of Bea's OCD habits, or her compulsions as her therapist refers to them includes stalking people. This may make some readers feel nervous and frustrated for her because this puts Bea in some incredibly embarrassing and even frightening situations. I would recommend this book to people who are willing to dig deep and connect to a character who is not easily relatable. Although it is not a light, easy read, it is a great book.

"Divergent" by Veronica Roth

Rating: Excellent!
Divergent by Veronica Roth is a young adult book set in a dystopian Chicago where the citizens are divided up into different groups called factions, each of which prioritizes a certain characteristic. There's Candor (honesty), Amity (kindness), Abnegation (selflessness), Erudite (intelligence) and Dauntless (bravery). At the age of 16, each member must choose which faction to reside in for the remainder of their lives. Here begins the story of Beatrice Prior, a member of Abnegation who struggles to find out her true values and beliefs in this world gone wrong. This is a highly recommended read to anyone who is a fan of the Hunger Games or just dystopian fiction in general.

In "Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have),"? April's dad wants her to move away from her hometown in the middle of her junior year. This means away from all of her friends and her boyfriend. However, she convinces her dad to let her stay with her friend Vi. What April's father doesn't know is that Vi's mom will be in a traveling theater production of Mary Poppins for the next six months. Lying to their parents is just the first thing April and Vi shouldn't have done. From buying a hot tub to spending three thousand dollars on a Donut, April and Vi do all sorts of things that should get them in trouble, but don't. This is a hilarious book that I would recommend.

"The Mark Of Athena" by Rick Riordan

The third book in the popular Heroes of Olympus series, The Mark of Athena does nt disappoint fans. The action, humor, and plot all are factors in what makes this book so great.
Annabeth is finally at the Roman camp where her boyfriend, Percy Jackson, had been for the past few months with no memory. She also is hoping to set up a peaceful alliance with the fierce Roman camp. However, things do not go as planned. The group of seven demigods (Annabeth, Percy, Jason, Leo, Piper, Frank, and Hazel) in th prophecy of Seven have to flee. But, not before hearing another prophecy, creating even more mystery than the one before it.
Of course, along the way of fulfilling the second prophecy, they encounter many more challenges, such as fangirl nymphs, various Greek monsters (after all, the whole series is centered around Greek mythology!), the horror of Diet Coke, their own personal quirks and self-doubts, and, naturally, giants and ancient prophecies.

Elsie come from a long line of professional french horn players. Both her father and her grandfather went to "Shining Birches", a prestigious music camp for High School upperclassmen. She had her sights set on Boston Youth Symphony but when she and her family are out of the country on the audition date, Elsie must join the marching band at her High School. On the first day of band camp Elsie realizes this was a horrible idea. She gets an unappreciated nickname, has to play a completely different instrument, and she faints because of the heat. On the day of her marching bands first competition their rival has a terrible accident, giving Elsie's band new opportunities. Will she be able to balance marching band, the stress of Shining Birches, friends, and (possibly) a new boyfriend? Read it to find out! :)
