BMPL is one of 40 Galileos

In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s first use of a telescope, the Cincinnati Observatory has started a bold program to bring telescopes into local communities. Called the "40 Galileos: Starry Messenger Project," the program attracted 145 applicants from the tri-state area. The Batesville Memorial Public Library is pleased to announce that they are one of the 40 finalists selected to receive a telescope from the observatory on September 11, 2009. In the meantime, a library representative must take part in two training sessions at the observatory, and conduct and report on two public programs using the telescope. Watch for future Star Parties and other fun events once we receive our telescope.
