The Great Dictator (1940) NR

This is one of Charlie Chaplin's wilder pictures, as he plays both a dictator and a common barber, with the barber mistaken for the tyrant and as you can imagine, hijinks ensue. This was released in 1940 and is one of the earliest anti-Nazi motion pictures, with Hitler banning the movie in Germany and placing Chaplin on a kill list, to be executed once Hitler overtook the United States. Of course, that never happened, but we still have The Great Dictator and while it is a hilarious movie from start to finish, it is also a bold social satire that is relevant even nearly eight decades after release. The movie is not rated, but should be treated as PG.
