Bearing Witness Exhibit and Talk
Exhibit: Oct 15-Nov15
Talk: Tuesday, October 25, 6:00pm
Bearing Witness is a traveling exhibit and a memorial to Samuel "Mingo Jack" Johnson, the victim of New Jersey’s only documented lynching. The soil was collected from Wampum Park in Eatontown and will be traveling around the state. This exhibit, sponsored by The New Jersey Social Justic Remembrance Coalition, asks viewers to join in reflecting on actions we can take today to end the legacies of racial inequality.
Join us for the talk on Oct. 25 to learn more about the history of Samuel Johnson and the project. The talk will be an in-person event, and registration is required at bradleybeachlibrary.org.
The speaker is Reverend Kerwin Webb. He serves as the coalition liaison for the New Jersey Social Justice Remembrance Coalition and the president of the Red Bank Area NAACP. He is a graduate of Alabama State University and Princeton Theological Seminary. Rev. Webb is the Associate Pastor of Youth and Young Adults at Second Baptist Church of Asbury Park and is employed as the Education Specialist for Interfaith Neighbors in Asbury Park, NJ.
