Palgrave resident Gail Grant and her daughter Jen reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest land mass on the African continent, on October 10th, 2011 at 4:13 p.m. local time. It took them seven days to climb 19,341 feet (5895 meters) to Uhuru peak and two days to come back down. At that time, Gail was 67 years old and Jen was 35.
