Caledon Public Library in partnership with Family Transition Place will be recognizing Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women with a candlelight vigil. This day established in 1991 by Parliament of Canada, marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. Caledon Public Library is honoured to co-host this annual event as a solemn ritual in memory of a tragic day; it is also an opportunity to encourage our community to consider ways in which we can take action to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls. Light refreshments will be served.
