Planting your Family Tree

Thinking about planting your family tree and not sure what to do with shaky leaves or where to start. This back to basics session will help the new genealogist to get off to the right start and the experienced research a chance to refresh their skills. We will discuss planning and organizing, pitfalls to watch out for, some types of records available, and look at some free website that can get you going in the right direction. Participants will have the opportunity to do some hands on exploring

Growing Your Family Tree

Once you have the first branch on your tree you will want to watch it grow. We will explore both commercial and free genealogical websites, develop searching techniques, and learn about resources not available online. Participants will have a chance to try out some sites with their own research


Session 3 - November 12, 2017 | AB Branch | 1 - 2:30 pm

Tending your Family Tree

As your family tree begins to grow it is important that we keep tending it. We will explore website that can help you learn about new record sets, and resources that you can use to expand your understanding about the life of your ancestors.  We will look at websites and organizations that can provide information about new areas or topics you discover as you research and provide further education in your family history journey.  Participants will have the opportunity to explore some of these resources during the session
