THE RENSSELAER PUBLIC LIBRARY

Thursday, January 17th- Monday, January 21, 2019 – To commemorate the death of the nation’s 16th President Abraham Lincoln, the Rensselaer Public Library will have on display an authentic replica of the coffin in which Lincoln was buried.  A program by Lincoln presenter Danny Russel will be held on

Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Rensselaer Public Library

208 West Susan Street. Rensselaer, Indiana.

On loan from Batesville Casket Company of Batesville, Indiana, the replica was constructed for use at funeral home open houses and historical events such as Civil War reenactments.  Batesville did not construct the original coffin but used original plans to build the replica.

“This living history display is a great tool for schools, historical groups or interested individuals,”

says Julie Hesson a Funeral Director at Jackson Funeral Chapels and a DAR member.
