Oil Painting exhibit, The Center @ Colfax Library
Colfax Branch Library

Saturday, Sep. 8,

From Monet to Van Gogh, and Pissarro to Picasso, area residents are invited to get a flavor of master artists through the stunning replica oil paintings of Robin Stanard now showing at The Center at Colfax Library. The exhibit includes 28 sizeable replicas of artwork being shown in museums throughout the world.

Artist Robin Standard grew up in Colfax, eventually raising two daughters here and working in his family’s carpentry business. While he found satisfaction in the creativity of designing and remodeling homes he is very excited to again be focusing upon his art.

Stanard begun drawing as a child and is self-taught, spending years practicing with pencils and paints. About three years ago, his daughters gave him some watercolors and color pencils for Father’s day and the spark returned. Stanard began an intense journey into the work of 20th Century artists and was inspired to replicate their works. Stanard says, “Their paintings have the ability to generate great emotion in a different way for every person. I believe this is the true magic of art.”

Stanard’s “Replica Oil Paintings from Museums Around the World " shows at The Center at Colfax Library, from September 4-October 21th. Exhibit hours are Mondays-Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays-Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays-Sundays 1-5 p.m.  The Center at Colfax Library is located at 102 S. Main Street or call Whitman County Library at 509-397-4366 for more details.
