Women of Influence - Women Making History in El Dorado County!

The presentation highlights various women who lived in this county, such as Margaret Kelley, a teacher in county schools for over 50 years; Stella Tracy, a major benefactor and preserver of county history; Gertrude Kirk, the first woman to register to vote in the county – and an early automobile driver; Georgia Leoni, who ran a ranch with her husband; Dr. Jean Babcock, who started practicing medicine in Placerville at a time when women doctors were not very common; Lucy Wakefield who made a good living making and selling pies to the miners; Nancy Gooch who arrived as a slave and eventually was able to purchase property in Coloma; and Datsolali who wove baskets that are works of art.

This slideshow presentation shows photographs of many county women in the exhibit, and shares some of their fascinating history!

Great for all ages.
