Main Library

Sunday, May 26, 2:00 until 4:30 p.m.

Still don't know what this is about? Come and see for yourelf! Thelma Battle's latest book, HOG HEAD CHEESE, CHITLINS AND PLUCK, promises to be a best seller!

This book is about local post slavery African Americans (1920s-2010s) and their personal stories of “hog raising,” hog eating, and the after effects of such dealings. It is written as an informative vehicle as well as a remembrance.

These narratives were personally collected by Ms. Battle from local African Americans who either lived on farms or lived in town before zoning restrictions and raised hogs. It is a presentation of life through choices, or non-optional circumstances.

Please come by and meet Ms. Battle on Sunday, May 26. See you there!
