What Happened to my
What Happened to my Plants: Part II – Diseases and Gastropods
Charles Pink House - 1256 Lawrence St.

Tuesday, Oct. 16, 5:30pm-6:30pm

It’s a jungle out there, folks!  Let’s find out who’s been destroying your plants’ leaves and sickening other perennials, shrubs and trees in your yards.  You’ll learn simple diagnostics for identifying the most common villains from the PNW’s fungi and virus communities.  Find out where they are hiding in your gardens and what to culturally and mechanically do about them.

About the Speaker Bruce Bennett:

Bruce Bennett is a Washington State University Master Gardener and Rain Garden Educator.  He is also a Washington Certified Professional Horticulturalist (CPH), a Certified Nursery Consultant and an award-winning garden designer who has plied his trade in King County for some twenty-five years.  Bruce is a lecturer for Advanced Master Gardener (King County, WA) Program training, civic organizations, condominium and home owners associations and, of course, garden clubs.  This year will also find him working as a plant information specialist at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show and teaching staff at the UW Botanical Gardens, Seattle Parks & Recreation, as well as at county and state Master Gardener conferences in Washington and Oregon.

In addition to design development for residential and commercial spaces, Bruce has used his talents on Seattle public drainage and water retention projects and public rain gardens.  He currently writes a column for the MGP Foundation newsletter to discuss the plants and horticultural environments he discovers while on RV road trips throughout the western states and across the country.   Bruce retired from the University of Washington and his role as Director of Instructional Programs in the Division of Social Sciences.  He is also the former Director of Education for the King County Foundation Master Gardener Program.  Bruce is semi-retired from his landscape design and installation business and now spends more time as a volunteer interpretive park ranger for the National Park Service and the State Park Systems of Oregon and Washington.

His lectures are eligible for WSU/Master Gardener Program, WSNLA/Certified Professional Horticulturist and WALP continuing education credit if members of the audience are currently affiliated with these organizations.

Sponsored by WSU Extension Jefferson County.
