Art in the Library - Jim Alden Retrospective
Port Townsend Library - 1220 Lawrence St.
Friday, Oct. 27, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Following the tradition of recent years, the October Art in the Library opening will include birthday cake for our beloved Carnegie Building, which is 104 glorious years old this month.

The Art in the Library exhibit is a special one. It features the work of late Port Townsend artist Jim Alden. Jim arrived in Port Townsend in the early 70s, and was a fine, life-long and self-taught artist. Jim was a fixture about town—especially at the Town Tavern (where bartered art for drinks) and the Salal Cafe (where he was a dishwasher). (Two of his paintings—Union Wharf and Water Lilies--are by the windows on the bar side of Sirens.) Attend the opening reception so that you can hear Jenny Westdal, current Jefferson County Historical Society Board of Trustees President and friend and employer of Jim, talk about him. Finn Wilcox will read his poem about Jim.
