Unraveling America’s Musical Roots: A Participatory Performance with Craig Harris
Canton Public Library

Saturday, Sep. 29, 2:30 PM
Combining archival audio, rare film, well-researched storytelling, and collective music-making, Mr. Harris, a master percussionist, educator, and author, leads an exciting, free musical journey. We’ll visit old-time Appalachian fiddlers and bluegrass banjo players and cover Americana experimenters and beyond.  Mr. Harris is author of The Band: Pioneers of Americana Music (2014, 2017); Heartbeat, Warble and the Electric Powwow: American Indian Music (2016); and the latest, Bluegrass, Newgrass, Old-time, and Americana Music (May 2018). Let yourself be immersed in an acoustic experience exploring the creative history of American “roots” music. Registration is requested, and there is no charge for the program.
