Wednesday, Apr. 25, 7:45 PM
“The Mystery Lovers Book Club,” at Canton Public Library, meets at the library at 7:45 pm and goes to a nearby Canton pub or restaurant for our book discussion. The April selection is Iron Lake, by William Kent Krueger. Obviously one who has experienced the frigid Minnesotan winters, Krueger creates in his first book a character who is half Native American and half Irish, former cop and former sheriff. His name is Cork O’Connor, and in spite of having his own difficulties must take action when a local judge is murdered and a boy scout goes missing. Added to the mix are the money temptations of the local casino and the unnerving sense that a Wendigo, a malevolent Native American spirit, walks in the community.Call, email or come by to reserve a copy of the book. All are welcome; registration is requested. Canton Public Library is at 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton. Information: check the website at or call or email Beth Van Ness: (860) 693-5800, and
