Clever and Unusual Escapes From Slavery
Batavia Branch

Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2 p.m.
or call (513)732-2128.
Slaves from the pre-Civil War South devised all kinds of ways to escape from bondage. Some of their methods were quite ingenious. From hiding in plain sight, to disguises, to piloting a ship under Confederate guns, brave people on the run used all their daring and ingenuity to make a better life. Hear their unusual and stirring stories when Millie Henley of Historical Connections presents Clever and Unusual Escapes from Slavery at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 27 at the Batavia Library. She will wear period attire and use PowerPoint illustrations to bring these inspiring stories to life. For more information or to RSVP, call the library at 732-2128 or sign up online.
