Come try a slow, mindful approach to improving mobility and relieving chronic tension and discomfort. You will gain greater ease and comfort in everyday activities as well as better posture, breathing, and balance. Awareness Through Movement works through a combination of slowing down, reducing effort, and paying attention to sensation as you are guided through simple but fundamental movement patterns. The class is specifically designed to accommodate people with a wide range of mobility. Participants need to be able to lie down on a mat on the floor, but it’s fine if you need help getting down and up. Some mats and extra padding will be provided, but bring your own supportive exercise mat if you wish. Registration is appreciated, but not required. Instructor Margaret Pierpont, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, has been a resident of Clinton for 30 years. She teaches Awareness Through Movement through the Lifetime Learning Institute at Bard College and at the D”Amby Project in Red Hook. She also works privately with clients in New York City and Clinton.
