Chavez Book Club

Tuesdays, June 18 and July 2, 10:30 am

Come join the discussion! Our selection for July is Prodigal Summer, by Barbara Kingsolver.

Prodigal Summer weaves together three stories of human love within a larger tapestry of lives inhabiting the forested mountains and struggling small farms of southern Appalachia.  Over the course of one humid summer, these various characters find their connections to one another and to the flora and fauna with whom they share a place. Prodigal Summer demonstrates a balance of narrative, drama and ideas that is characteristic of Barbara Kingsolver's finest work.

Our main discussion will be July 2, but if you can't wait and want a chance to talk about the book while you are still reading it, join us for our mid-month discussion on June 18. We meet in our new "pop-up room" on the 2nd floor of the Chavez library.
