StoryCorps: Tracing Our Origins
Tracy Branch Library
Sunday, Mar. 5, 2:00 pm

Tracing Our Origins is a community volunteer project to collect and archive the life stories, origin stories, and folk wisdom of the Tracy senior community and to promote the library as a gathering place that engages and empowers multigenerational and ethnically diverse communities to build communities by sharing life experiences and aspirations for their City.

High school volunteers are recording the life stories of participants at the library on Sunday afternoons, 2-4 pm. On the last Sunday of each month, Tracing Our Origins is open to the public and will feature a presentation to the community on the interviews conducted during that month, 2-4 pm.

Persons interested in the program should contact Vecky Elliott, Tracy Friends of the Library (vecky.elliott@gmail.com; 903-253-6784) or Sejal Kargal, Project Youth Leader (sejakargal@gmail.com).

StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind. Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 60,000 interviews from more than 100,000 participants. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
