Many religious denominations kept records about their members, but the records of the Society of Friends, or the Quakers, are unique. Quaker records are widely available and often very detailed.  This class will explore how the traditions, practices, and beliefs of the Quakers of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries influenced the kinds of records they created. Understanding the origin and creation of these records will help genealogists better interpret and apply these valuable records.

A life-long Clinton County resident, Dennis Hoffman has been researching his family history for over forty years.  Since he has many Quaker ancestors and his wife comes from a Quaker family, he has become well-versed in researching Quaker records.  The cost of the class is $2.00, and registration is required.  To register, call 765-654-8746, visit myfcpl.org/calendar, or stop by the library.
