"Hit the Roof" concert
Sayreville Public Library
Thursday, Jul. 26, 6:30PM
LIBRARIES ROCK!
With a taste of some of the twentieth century's most important musical movements, Hit the Roof reinvigorates old songs with a new twist. The duet of keyboardist and drummer start off with a bit of ragtime-stride, and then on (pun intended) into the era of swing and boogie-woogie. They then embark on rock n ' roll frenzy, all the while explaining the history and icons behind the movement. Continuing the performance into the style of New Orleans piano, a style with roots steeped in boogie-woogie, gospel, classical, and funk, the band takes a slower approach to the blues.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is suggested.
