Exploring Similar Dr
Exploring Similar Dramatic Scenes in Film, Opera & Ballet
39 Keep Street

Saturday, May 2, 10:00am
Presented by Louis Barrella, opera aficionado, this program allows participants to experience the operatic and choreographic enhancement of dramatic scenes that tell a similar, if not same story.  In the process, one will gain an appreciation of the opera and ballet composer’s genius, as he/she adds the wonderful dimension of very appropriate music to the drama at hand. Film examples will include “Romeo and Juliet” by Zeffirelli, “Camille” starring Greta Garbo and “A Tale of Two Cities” with Ronald Coleman to coincide with Gounod’s Opera and Prokofiev’s Ballet, Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Giordani’s “Andrea Chenier”, among others.

Lou has been a dedicated Music Educator for over 40 years, specializing in Music and Opera Appreciation in schools and for many Cultural Organizations.  Most importantly, he has given workshops and organized student trips for the Education Department of the Metropolitan Opera for 35 years and continues to do so.
Sponsored by Opera at Florham and Madison Public Library.
