IS THIS CHINA'S CENTURY?
The 32nd Camden Conference is all about China: its complex social, economic, environmental, and political affairs, as well as its relations with Asian neighbors, the U.S., and the international community at large.
Please join us on Wednesday, February 20 for the talk “National Sword: The Price of Contaminated Recycling.” This talk will be held at Freeport Community Library and will run 6:30-7:30PM. It is presented in collaboration with ecomaine.
In 2017, China enacted its “National Sword” policy, effectively banning the import of recyclable materials from across the globe. Once the world’s leading importer of these materials, China has sent shockwaves through the recycling and waste management industry. Maine’s leading recycler, ecomaine, will present on how we got here, what’s happening now, and the future of waste management, from Augusta to Zhuhai and beyond.
This event is free and open to the public. For questions or directions to the library, please visit www.freeportlibrary.com or call 865-3307.
