Calling all history buffs! Len Kalkwarf will be at Freeport Community Library on Wednesday, June 20 to talk about his travels and his book, Exploring the Libraries of the US Presidents. From 6:30-7:30PM, learn about the various presidential libraries across the country maintained by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Each library has its own unique history, and Len will share all their qualities and quirks.
Len began his hobby of studying presidential history seriously in retirement. Since 2006, he and his wife, Beverly, have visited thirteen presidential libraries and have visited one or more historical sites associated with forty-three former presidents. From 2010-2016, he was a White House volunteer in the Presidential Correspondence Department. Len is an ordained minister in the Reformed Church of America, and served congregations as a parish minister for more than fifty years in New York, Pennsylvania, and Kuwait. He earned a doctorate from Princeton, and received an honorary doctorate from Central College in Pella, Iowa, his alma mater. He has authored six books.
