In 1939 the Warsaw Zoo was flourishing under the guidance of a devoted husband-and-wife team, Antonina (Jessica Chastain) and Jan (Johan Heldenberg) Zabinski. After the Germans bombed and invaded the zoo, the couple fought back, working with the Resistance and secretly using their zoo's underground tunnel area for hiding Jews.  This remarkable story is based on Antonina Zabinski's wartime diaries.

If you’ve got hundreds of “pins” on Pinterest, but just can’t get started, or you would like to meet other Pinterest and craft fans, Crafternoons is for you!  Each month will feature free crafts that adults can create and take home, while supplies last.  No advanced skills are needed - just show up ready to have fun, meet other community members, and create something amazing! 
 
All ages welcome, but be aware that crafts are intended for adults and older children.  Free supplies and instructions provided, no registration needed.

Join us for a discussion of Candice Millard's fine biography: Hero of the Empire: The Boer War, a Daring Escape, and the Making of Winston Churchill. This thrilling narrative recounts Churchill's adventures in India, Sudan, Cuba, and finally South Africa. During his various positions within the army and as a journalist, he meets others such as Gandhi, with whom he would share the world stage.
Any adult is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.
