Central - R.E.A.D.® To The Dogs - All kids ages 4-12 years old are invited to come and practice their reading skills with the Montgomery Pet Partners therapy dog teams in our Children's Activity Room.  Each child can select a favorite book to read to one of the trained therapy dogs assisted by their owner/trainer. (Parents or other adult caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Department while your child is participating.)

Central Library - All children ages 3-6 years old and their adult caregiver are invited to join us on Wednesdays for:
  • Books & Stories
  • Rhymes & Songs
  • Age-appropriate early literacy activities
  • Easy book-themed or literacy-related crafts
  • A light snack
  • All designed to offer your preschooler a fun library experience! 
** We encourage parent involvement and require all adult caregivers to remain in the room during storytime.
** Please limit conversations with other adults, and silence cell phones during storytime.
** Preschoolers are encouraged to sit, stand and practice self-control for longer periods of time than toddlers.

Baby and Me, featuring Miss Brandy,  is a program designed for ages Birth-18 months to promote early literacy in infants.  This program focuses on nursery rhymes and movement rather than books, is geared toward infants, and will be no longer than 25 minutes.  Parents and caregivers should be prepared to be actively involved in this story time.

At the conclusion, you will be able to eat the results of your own cooking! It's a great program for all ages. Children are welcome with adult supervision. Registration required. This event is in support of the 2017 Gulf Coast Reads book selection News of the World by Paulette Jiles.

Central - All children ages Birth through 6 years old and their adult caregivers are invited to join us for our annual Trick-or-Treat Costume Parade Storytime! Wear your favorite costume (not too scary!) and come join the fun and activities.  Parents may contribute to the trick-or-treat parade by bringing one small bag of individually wrapped candy. Don’t forget your trick-or-treat bag or bucket!
