Princeton Farmers’ Market Community Room Thursday, Sep 2, 11 a.m. (Thursdays from Jun. 17 to Oct. 28, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Cooks and shoppers who value fresh ingredients know that the annual Princeton Farmers’ Market is the place to find local, homegrown fruits and vegetables during the summer and fall months. This year, the market moves to the library’s Hinds Plaza. Thirteen vendors will be on hand to sell their freshest produce. The Friends of the Library will have a table with cookbooks and health-related volumes available by the pound. Inside the library, special market-day programs will include family-friendly activities at 11:15 in the Community Room, immediately following the regular Family Storytime that is offered daily at 10:30 a.m. in the third floor Story Room. In the afternoons, adults can attend a variety of programs centered around the theme of healthy cooking and eating. Stay tuned for details.
Farmers’ Market Program: What It Means to Eat Well Community Room Thursday, Sep 2, 2 p.m.
“What should I eat?” The answer to this ordinary question can be complicated for those trying to eat well. Nutritional guidelines can be confusing and conventional wisdom doesn’t always hold true. Jan
Cho, an expert who blogs on the subject, advocates eating meaningfully, which requires complete participation in the experience, from knowing how and where an ingredient was grown to savoring it in a meal we prepared. This is the way to eat for wellbeing, and for all aspects of our being--mind, soul and body alike. Cho will offer samples of a freshly prepared and nutritious snack following the hour-long discussion.
This program is one of a series of programs being held at the library during the Farmers’ Market on the plaza. Join us for cooking demonstrations, films, speakers and more at 2 p.m. every Thursday through Nov. 4th.

On the steering committee are Frances Craig, Minnie Craig, Penney Edwards-Carter, Robert Harmon, Wallace Holland, Henry F. Pannell, Shirley Satterfield and Joseph Tadlock. All interested in the history of this community or in African American genealogy are invited to attend.
