Fall for the Book: Luis Carlos Montalvan

Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him by former Captain Luis Carlos Montalvan. The story of how two wounded warriors, who had given so much and suffered the consequences, found salvation in each other. It is the story about war and peace, injury and recovery, psychological wounds and spiritual restoration. It is the story about the love between a man and a dog, and how together they healed each other's soul.
Presented in partnership with George Mason University and the 2014 Fall for the Book Festival.

Write On! Short Story Contest Finale & Fall for the Book Event featuring Author Carla Buckley

Meet Carla Buckley as we celebrate Fall for the Book* and recognize the participants of the 2nd annual Write On! Writing Contest. Buckley is the author of The Deepest Secret. Writers, readers and fans are welcome!

 The authors of the stories selected for first place, second place, third place, and honorable mention will each receive a copy of a book, featuring stories from the contest, published by our own Symington Press.

*2014 Fall for the Book Festival is September 11-18 with events at George Mason University's various locations throughout Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland, including the Loudoun County Public Library.

Fall for the Book: Marc Leepson

What So Proudly We Hailed: Francis Scott Key, A Life. In this fascinating look at early America, historian Marc Leepson explores the life and legacy of Francis Scott Key.  Standing alongside Betsy Ross, Thomas Paine, Patrick Henry, Paul Henry and John Hancock in history, Key made his mark as an American icon by one single and unforgettable act, writing The Star-Spangled Banner. Publishing coincides with the 200th anniversary of The Star-Spangled Banner.
