After Hours Teen Center: GarageBand Studio with educators Joy Harrell and Hunter Pendleton

Manipulate loops and record and edit your own sounds on the library's Macs.  Video gaming, computers and art supplies will also be available. 
All teens attending the After Hours Teen Center must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian on file.  Teens must arrive by 7:30 pm and be picked up by 10:00 pm.

The Singing Tree with Billy B

Sing with the trees, grow with the moss and learn the pollination dance!
Billy B., aka, the Natural Science Song and Dance Man, has performed all over the United States and Canada, and at venues such as The White House, The Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap. For all ages.
Limited seating.
This program is sponsored by the James Horton for the Arts Trust Fund. The Fund was created as a lasting celebration of the life and creative spirit of James Fontaine Horton; avid reader, musician, aspiring poet, fiction writer and frequent patron of the Cascades Library. The annual summer performance encourages young people to enjoy the arts, and find their own creativity by sparking their imagination.

10,000 Book Challenge

Write On! Adult Short Story Writing Contest
All Locations
Monday, Aug. 4, -Aug. 11 (Monday, June 16, 2014 - Monday, August 11, 2014)
Take part in our second short story writing contest for adults.
Follow submission guidelines at library.loudoun.gov/writeon
Submit your entry: June 16 - August 11 to writeon@library.loudoun.gov
The winners will be announced ion Sunday, September 14, 2:00 pm at the Rust Library by special guest Carla Buckley, author of The Deepest Secret. The authors of the stories selected for first place, second place, third place, and honorable mention will each receive a copy of a book, featuring stories from the contest, published by our own Symington Press. 
  
Look for library programs and workshops to spark your creativity, they will be prefixed with 'Write On!'
For ages 18 & up.

Meet live animals from Africa, Asia, Australia and South America while learning snake secrets and laughing at lizard stories and turtle tales. A giant snake, alligator, tortoise, monitor lizard and other amazing reptiles will be featured.
