Yes! It's back! Girls Who Code (GWC) was such a success last year and the library is excited to host round 2!
"Girls Who Code is a national non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology. Our programs educate, equip, and inspire girls with the computing skills they'll need to pursue 21st century opportunities."
A super inclusive and well supported program that requires no previous coding experience. The program is for 3rd-5th grade (9-11) girls/non-binary and includes both online and "unplugged" activities.  One of the fun parts, it ties reading in as well! The programs follow along with different books that help teach the concept of coding in alternate ways to help everyone.  Optional field trips are another fun perk about this club. Meetings are generally held outside as long as weather permits.

Teen Advisory Group is an exciting new club starting up at the Pomfret Library.  We've been secretly planning some expansions to our Teen Services and we need actual teens to help make sure its actually cool.  Come hang out with other teens and tell us your opinions.  You will get to help us select the books we purchase each month, pick and plan the programs we offer for teens, and spruce up our teen section and make it cozy and inviting. We want to hear you and customize our YA offerings to what you really want.
There will also be other fun things to do during our meetings as well. We're thinking games and crafts, but you can tell us what would be fun for you on that as well!
We are looking for tweens/teens in 7th-12th grade who are interested in volunteering here at the library.  Our meetings will be once a month for an hour.  Dates/Times TBD but looking like the 4th Thursday of the month.  Please speak with Ms.Heather (or Mrs.Bell) to get started, 860-928-3475 or hreilly@pomfretlibrary.org

  • “We believe in the transformative power of music; that it has the power to take you out of yourself, and maybe make the world a better place, ... what we try to do in our concerts...is try to make that music a safe space where the music will come and surround you and envelop you in that space where there’s just notes, and you can forget about everything else...and just be right in that little space."
         - Mark Davis, from the Apple Podcast Mandoshow Interviews´╗┐

The concert will be held on the deck behind the library; raindate is the following day, Thursday July 7. No registration is neccesary, a chair is recommended. The concert will be preceded by a "Someone's in the Kitchen Cook Book Club" picnic featuring The Outdoor Table by April McKinney at 5:30. Feel free to join us for both events!
