Who else can't wait for spring?!  On April 2nd, the Connecticut Audubon Society of Pomfret will be swooping into the library for a special event.  They will be presenting the "Birds of Spring", where we will learn about eggs, nests, and bird calls. Learning about our local wildlife is an exciting way to welcome in our new season, as the birds will be re-appearing.

This is a registered event for kids in Kindergarten through 2nd grade, we can only have 20 children participate so be an early bird and sign up now! Please register by child's (children's) name(s). If you end up not being able to attend, please let us know as space is limiited and we will have a waiting list.  Sponsored by Friends of the Pomfret Public Library.

Code Club is back!  This time, we are working on building our own Video Games!  In Code Club, we learn how to use a specific code language to create tasks and make computers perform in certain ways.  An environment where kids help the kids with a very user friendly program. Ms.Heather oversees and helps the students understand what is being asked of them,  troubleshoot, and inspire creativity.

This is listed as an ADVANCED session.  If your child has done a club with us before, they will be fine.  If your child has not taken any coding, but are skilled with computers, they are more than welcome to join in.  I try to do one beginner/moderate session and one Advanced session each year, to add some variety and be sure everyone has a chance at their levels.

I somewhat follow the PCS schedule, so please look at the session dates before registering.  There are some off weeks, due to school being closed, early dismissal, etc... Its much easier than trying to coordinate everyone for a time that works on those off days. Each session is 1 hour long from 4-5pm

We have 8 spots available for library computer use and 4 spots additional for personal computer use.  Please email hreilly@pomfretlibrary.org if you plan to register using your own computer.  If the spots are full, still please register, the nature of this program might meant that there are library spots available or someone may have dropped the class.

Meet Me at the Museum by Anne Youngson

Shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award

From 70-year-old debut author Anne Youngson, a novel about a farmer's wife and a museum curator seeking second chances, hailed by NPR as "the charmer of the summer."
In Denmark, Professor Anders Larsen, an urbane man of facts, has lost his wife and his hopes for the future. On an isolated English farm, Tina Hopgood is trapped in a life she doesn’t remember choosing. Both believe their love stories are over.
Brought together by a shared fascination with the Tollund Man, subject of Seamus Heaney’s famous poem, they begin writing letters to one another. And from their vastly different worlds, they find they have more in common than they could have imagined. As they open up to one another about their lives, an unexpected friendship blooms. But then Tina’s letters stop coming, and Anders is thrown into despair. How far are they willing to go to write a new story for themselves?
