Everything that George Washington did, form the inaugural oath, through the establishment of the US Treasury, to the creation of the Coast Guard, cabinet meetings, appointment of ambassadors, and justice of the Supreme Court, his dealing with Congress, to the time when Washington unilaterally refused to run for a third term for the presidency was a precedent.
Meet Rich Rosental, lecturer and presiden of the North Jersey Civel War Round Table for the discussion about George Washington and his firsts.

All About Vaping and

All are welcome to learn about "Vaping and the Impact of Marijuana on the Community," on Thursday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. The Mendhams Stigma-Free Task Force will sponsor a presentation and Q & A led by substance abuse navigators from Daytop. Learn about vaping and its harmful effects on youth; how substances hijack the devoloping brain, and how to talk to teens. Also, the presentation will look at the impact of marijuana on the community; what has happened in Colorado,  and how to ensure continued health and wellness for youth after legalization. Sponsored by Mendhams Stigma-Free Task Force.

Secret Victorian Lad

Celebrate Women's History month with us at the library.  Meet Lydia Chiappini, adjunct professor and artist, who will show us details of Victorian dress. Demystify the function of the undergarments worn by Victorian ladies to achieve the fashionable silhouette. Join Lydia as she dresses in an early Victorian ensemble and then reconstructs the silhouette to become a late Victorian one. All garments are based on examples in the MET and Sigal Museum.
