This month's topic: Morton, Illinois: Silicon Valley of Farming? presented by Sarah Schrock, Group Product Manager of Climate Corp. Did you know Morton is home to three companies that are world leaders in farming technology? Farming is a huge industry and it is way more technical than just sticking a seed in the ground and hoping it will grow. Participants will do a hands on experiment with soils and learn how we can use technology to work with the land to grow better crops and protect the environment. GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) allows girls to explore and get hands-on experience in different areas of science, technology, engineering and math. GEMS is sponsored by the Morton Branch of AAUW. Grades: 4-7. Registration requested.
