Separating Fact from Fiction
Today it seems we are inundated with more information than ever before, and often that includes so-called "fake news" - stories disguised as journalism. In fact, it sometimes feels as though journalism is a lost art. We'll talk about how to spot fake news, how to sort out propaganda, and how it can benefit you in school and in your everyday life.

Presenter Shannon Sandoval graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Journalism and has worked in the news departments of the Pekin Daily Times, WMBD-TV, KSBW-TV, and WEEK-TV. She also worked as a freelance journalist for more than a decade. Currently, Sandoval is an Adjunct Professor at Bradley University teaching a class on Public Speaking & Civic Engagement, and an Assistant Speech Coach at PCHS.
