This month's program, "Solar Cars, Renewable and Nonrenewable Energy" will be presented by Laura Turner, Technical Information Specialist at Caterpillar, Inc. The girls will learn: 1) General info on solar energy and renewables vs non-renewables. 2) Building the car, design-test-redesign. 3) Solar power. GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) allows girls to explore and get hands-on experience in different areas of science, technology, engineering and math. GEMS is sponsored by the Morton Branch of AAUW. Grades: 4-7. Registration requested.

There will be activities at the library from 6-8 pm as we participate in Fourth Fridays this month! We will do a dedication of our new outdoor Chess Tables at 6 pm. Play chess and checkers! There will be a craft for kids. Local artist Matt Matheney will be on hand to talk about his sculpture the Eternal Flame and the chess tables.
