Reading Buddies
Monday, Jul. 16, 10:00am - 2:30pm
Dripping Springs Community Library’s Summer Reading Buddy Program pairs young readers who are going into first and second grade with teen library volunteers for a half hour of reading encouragement, games and learning activities. It’s our goal to make reading fun.
Reading Buddies are scheduled for Monday mornings and afternoons. Schedules will be determined by best fit for you and the Teen Reading Buddies.

Mah-Jongg - Summer
Wednesday, Jul. 18, 1:00 - 4:00pm (June 6 & 13, July 18 & 25)
Accomplisher players and interested participants alike are invited to rattle the tiles and join the fun. Mah-jongg is played with four players using tiles stamped with Chinese symbols. The goal of the game is to be the first to match your tiles to a specific hand by picking and discarding. It's rather like the card game Gin Rummy - only faster!

Avast! It’s Pi

All things pirate abound today. Join in the revelry and discover pirate stories, pirate treasure and pirate adventures for children, elementary to middle grades.

This is a come and go event. Parents, you control how long your pirate time is to be. What to expect? A pirate in costume, a great photo opportunity. Also: games, tattoos, pieces of eight and maybe a treasure map to follow, a pirate snack, eye patch making and wearing?

Friday Discovery Tim

For Children 3 and Up

Friday story time for preschool ages includes great stories, movement and music, plus crafts or activities. In addition, three Fridays will have a "Books with Rhythm" segment that highlights a type of music, an instrument, or a person.

Legos at the Library meets monthly for free-choice building time. Join us and Create. All ages welcome, 7 years and younger need to have their adult assistant on hand.
All Abilities Chair
Monday, Jul. 23, 9:15am - 10:15am
In this All Abilities exercise class for adults, participants enjoy 100% gentle stretching and yoga-based poses, all from the comfort of a chair.  Besides receiving the cardiovascular, conditioning, strength and flexibility benefits, students are led through a variety of self-care concepts and techniques.

Introducing Pop Up Makerspaces! Makerspaces are "do it yourself" spaces where people can gather to create, innovate, and learn. Our makerspace contains gadgets that allow students to explore circuits, innovate with recycled objects, develop coding skills, and bring new life to ordinary things. From 3D pens to using a button maker you can create something unique!

The Art of Henna - J

For Ages 13+
You are invited to come learn the history, beauty, and application of henna on Tuesday, June 26th from 2-4. Known as mehndi in Hindi, henna is an all-natural product made from ground henna tree leaves. It is mixed into a paste and applied to the hands, feet, arms, or legs for a temporary tattoo lasting 1-2 weeks. The paste stains the skin naturally but will also stain clothing so you may want to wearing something you don't mind getting a bit of henna on.
Donnadee Swedberg is a local henna artist with over 12 years of experience doing body art at weddings, baby showers, birthday parties and festivals.
Registration and a signed parental permission slip is required to attend this program.
