In May, the club will play “The Cat Mitt Game.”
The new Roaming Readers will set out on a leisurely walk, during which members can share current and favorite reads, at 10 a.m. each Friday in May. The group will meet at the library’s front door before embarking. This club will meet every Friday in May, offering the opportunity to stay active while uncovering great books. The Syracuse-Wawasee Trails will join the excursion and will share trail developments.
Bring your trees and/or devices to the Syracuse Public Library's downstairs meeting room and enjoy a cozy hour of research accompanied by high tea! Join the fun from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, May 16.
Learn a Language with Amber meets from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 19, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Teens will learn a new language of their choice. Electronic devices should be brought to this program, since the library has a limited number of public computers. Printouts will also be available.
Bring your instrument to the library and jam with fellow musicians from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, in the downstairs meeting room. All skills and instruments welcome!
Embrace the natural world, learn about native plants, and explore local wild spaces. In May, we meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at Edna W. Spurgeon Woodland, 9478 N. 600 W., Ligonier. Contact Sarah, swright@syracuse.lib.in.us, for information.

We will be making this Vintage Clock Face Pendant 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the downstairs meeting room. We will have a variety of different clock faces as well as rhinestones, ladybug charms, and bumblebee charms to decorate your clock faces with. Limit of 16 people.
Help keep the weeds at bay in Becky’s Garden. We’ll also tackle a weedy area along the library’s staff parking lot to remove an invasive plant. The wrangle starts at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, in the library's Community Roots outdoor space. Come in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Insect repellent would also be a great idea. The library has some gardening tools, but more are welcome.
INDEPENDENT LENS announced the launch of the new season of Indie Lens Pop-Up, the long-running screening series that brings people together for community-driven conversations around its thought-provoking documentaries.
The Syracuse Public Library will host the documentary “Free for All: The Public Library” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, in the downstairs meeting room.
Filmmakers Dawn Logsdon and Lucie Faulknor turn the cameras on America’s beloved public institution — the library — and the dramatic human stories unfolding within it.
After the film, we’ll hold a Q&A session with SPL Executive Director Kim Blaha and SPL Assistant Director Megan Daumen.
Brew City will provide lemonade and pastries during this special event.
