When director Jonathan Demme died in late April this year, he left behind a body of work that is eclectic and lauded.  He won only one Best Director Oscar, for Silence of the Lambs in 1992, but several of his other films received nominations for other awards (Rachel Getting Married, Philadelphia, Swimming to Cambodia).  Some of his films have achieved cult status, which can't be measured with awards.  He was equally adept at making documentaries, literary adaptations, remakes, comedies, dramas, thrillers, music videos, prestige films, and B-movies.

Two years after Stop Making Sense came Something Wild, in which the free spirit Lulu (Melanie Griffith) kidnaps the straight laced Charlie (Jeff Daniels) and takes him on a screwball adventure across the country to her high school reunion.  Ray Liotta, in one of his first film roles, is perfectly cast as Lulu's dangerous ex-husband.  Like all cult movies, this one has always deserved a wider audience, according to members of the cult.
