Immigration and Workforce in Maine
Freeport Community Library
Wednesday, Nov. 14, 6:30-7:30PM

Please join us at Freeport Community Library on Wednesday, November 14 for “Immigration and Workforce in Maine,” a talk concerning the people and programs dedicated to assimilating New Americans into the Maine workforce. This talk will run 6:30-7:30PM and is free and open to the public.

Maine has a larger number of baby boomers and a smaller amount of young people entering the workforce than the US as a whole. Every sector of the Maine economy is already being affected by low workforce, and this problem will only worsen. Immigrants placed in Maine may be able to minimize the impact of this trend, if resources are made available to them. Tarlan Ahmadov, State Refugee Coordinator for the Office of Maine Refugee Services, and Julia Trujillo Luengo, Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity for the City of Portland, will be in to talk about the work being done as well as the resources currently available to immigrants to prepare them for successful assimilation into the Maine workforce. This talk will be followed by a Q&A.
