BLACK HOLES, Neutron Stars and Magnetars with JON WALLACE
Freeport Community Library
Monday, Apr. 3, 6:30PM
We've all heard of black holes but do you really know what they are or how they work? Did you know that a teaspoonful of material from a neutron star weighs millions of tons? Did you hear that scientists have recently discovered gravity waves? Come explore the fascinating world of stars, their creation, and explore gravity at the extreme with the library's own "science guy" - Jon Wallace. Jon encourages your participation and questions so it will be a really fun evening for everyone in the family!
Before retiring to Maine, Jon was an award-winning high school science teacher in Meriden, Connecticut for over 32 years. He is past president of the Connecticut Association of Physics Teachers and was an instructor in Wesleyan University’s Project ASTRO program. He has managed the Naugatuck Valley Community College observatory and run many astronomy classes and training sessions throughout Connecticut.
