I love the Internet! Just this past week I've done so many wondrous things. I've bought a few items I couldn't find in any local stores, downloaded some $1.00
coupons for things I actually buy all the time, picked up a great free book at
PaperbackSwap, downloaded a free audio book at
Christian Audio (they give one away each month), listened to Shout and Share, a list of librarian favorites at BookExpo America 2010, viewed Chelsea Clinton's wedding dress, made a reservation at a hotel for a weekend getaway, bought tickets for an event, explored Carlsbad Caverns on
The National Park website, read my granddaughter's vacation adventure's on facebook, made a cheap sangria from a recipe on
The Bitten Word, paid bills, refilled my husband's prescription, found all kinds of books to add to my TBR pile, caught up with what my friends are reading, read my favorite blogs, chatted with friends all over the US, all without leaving my home or in my pj's so to speak. You gotta love the web!
I hate the Internet. How can that be after my exclamations above? It's a time gobbler, that's why. I often complain about not having enough time in a day to read all the books I'd like to read. Sometimes, I think if I would spend less time on the web, I'd have more time to do all those real life things, like cook, clean, get outdoors, see friends in person and yes, read!
It's truly a love/hate relationship, one that needs a balance and a more disciplined approach than I'm giving it. Perhaps I should try a no Internet week, something like a no tv week, to help wean myself from this time bandit. But, oh would I miss it!
