Susan Kidd Monk's bestselling novel, The Secret Life of Bees, hits the big screen on Friday, October 17th. Starring Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys, the film tells the story of 14 year-old Lily Owens who flees with her caregiver, Rosaleen, to the South Carolina town that holds the secret to her late mother's past. Taken in by the Boatwright sisters, Lily finds comfort in their world of beekeeping, honey and the Black Madonna.
