Talk to the Frackville Library

One of my recommendations this week on the Staff Picks shelves is a book series by Alexander McCall Smith.  The series is the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency which is also the title of the first book.  The series kicks off as Precious Ramotswe opens the first female detective agency in Botswana.  Her first cases include a mystery about a missing 11 year old boy that may involve witch doctors, locating a wayward husband and investigating a doctor who seems to know very little about medicine.  Armed with a how-to detective manual by Clovis Anderson, MMa Ramotswe and her secretary Grace Makutsi introduce readers to a cast of characters and locations that captivate readers for the next 12 books.  Several of the books have been adapted to films by HBO.
