Reviews by Teens for Teens
Here are some of the reviews from our Teen Summer Reading 2009 program. Feel free to tell us if we misquote you. I'm trying to decipher everyones' handwriting.
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart I really liked this book because it was very funny and suspenseful. It took me a while to read and at first I wasn't hooked (the beginning is slow), but it was worth it. by Abby Reed.
Identical by Ellen Hopkins This book was good because it kept you turning the pages and the end was very shocking. by Gina Cutarelli
Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card I liked this book's viewpoint on a past event in another book he wrote. He wrote it from a different, unimportant character from before. by Alex Daley
Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult When an Amish girl is blamed for not only becoming pregnant when she isn't married, but for killing her newborn, the Amish community accepts a lawyer who becomes immersed in their culture and traditions. A rare insight into Amish life, this book leaves you hanging on every word and ends with a surprising conclusion. by Amelia Byko
I read the Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold this week and I thought it was a great summer read because it was serious but also very entertaining. I liked the element of suspense and the complex characters. I would recommend this book to any high school student. by Rebecca Szpekman
Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli Stargirl was happy to be who she was. She looked for the good in others. She didn't care what others thought of her. This book taught me to be happy with who you are. by Samantha .
