Shark Lady True Adventures of Eugenie Clark by Ann McGovern
Eugenie Clark spent Saturday mornings as a child at an aquarium in New York City waiting for her mother to get finished with work.  As Eugenie watched and was intrigued by the sea life she saw from a glass window, she began to dream about "walking with the fish."  Those dreams along with much hard work came true for Eugenie.  She eventually worked at her own marine laboratory in Florida.  She has traveled and explored underwater life beneath many seas.  Eugenie met the Crown Prince of Japan who was interested in her studies of fish in the water around his country.  She is one of the few women ichthyologists (fish scientists) that were invited on expeditions with Jacques Cousteau.  Many of Eugenie's scientific discoveries are written about in National Geographic Magazine.  If you are interested in sea life or what it is like to be a scientist, you will find this biography fascinating.  I recommend this book for boys or girls in grades 1-3.
