Little Rat Makes Music by Monika Bang-Campbell
Little Rat loves music.  She comes from a very musical  family.  Little Rat wants to be a violinist.  She is thrilled to receive a violin and begins lessons.  Little Rat soon discovers that to be really good as a musician, like those who play in concerts, she must practice every day.  This is the hard part.  Practice is boring and not fun.  Little Rat's teacher believes in her musical abilities and helps her discover where beautiful music really comes from.  This book is most appropriate for first and second graders.  This book would, also, make a great read aloud for families with young children.
