Who would do such a thing? Five little kittens, three sisters so pretty and fluffy with a brother sleek and black along with another brother orange as marmalade—picked up, put in a bag and dumped by the side of the road. Thankfully, a kind lady driving down the road noticed a moving bag and knew that meant something was alive in the bag. As she carefully examined the bag, she found those beautiful kittens. One of them she could take care of and keep. The others, however, she took to the Rainbow Street Shelter for animals. The kittens were safe and fed. Now homes for these kittens were not a problem, except the orange marmalade one. This one became known as Buster. He stayed at the shelter long after his brother and sisters were placed in good homes. Buster liked the shelter for animals and they liked him. One day an elderly man, Mr. Larson, came to the shelter to look for a pet. Yes, Mr. Larsen and Buster became a wonderful match. A boy named Josh was there and found a bunny rabbit for a pet to take home. Josh often walked by Mr. Larsen’s house and saw Buster with the elderly man. Buster’s feisty personality is perfect as he does something life saving for Mr. Larsen. The friendship between this cat and Mr. Larsen is very special. Read to find out what happens and how things end. This book is most suitable for readers in grades 1-3.
