Witchery: A Ghosts of Albion Novel by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden
“Witchery” is a gripping and enthralling novel that pulls the reader in tightly. Young Adults, in grades 9-12, who enjoy horror, mystery, and fantasy are sure to enjoy this novel and its series. A mix of reality combined with magic, sorcery, and witchcraft allure readers into this spellbinding novel. Tamara and William Swift, Protectors of Albion, face their toughest battle yet. In the land of Britannica in the nineteenth century, terror fills the land when young maidens and fairies disappear in horrific manners. Plagued by their possessed father, thievery at the family bank, an impending wedding, and now the disappearance of several young virgins, Tamara and William enlist the help of ghosts Lord Byron, Queen Bodicea, and Admiral Horatio Nelson. This novel is rich with characters—fairies, sprites, ghosts, demons, witches, and mortals—and intertwining plotlines that make this novel a page-turner. As the Protectors are forced to split up, Tamara travels from London to Camelford to investigate these crimes while William ventures to New Orleans in search of a book that will release the demon from his father. Linked with the battle of King Arthur and his son Mordred, this fantasy takes many twists and turns in the later half of the book. As the summer solstice approaches, the lives of the captured girls, along with the life of Tamara Swift, are in perilous danger. The Swifts wonder how they will save the lives of these girls against the witches, the self proclaimed daughters of Morgan le Fey. Can the Protectors find a way to spare the lives of the innocent, or is their magic no match for this witchery? Violence, some graphic language, and sexual matters prove this novel to be more appropriate for mature readers. Coming soon!
