Product Reviews

When considering a major purchase, or even a minor one, there are so many products to choose from that it is hard to find the one that is just right. Below are several Web sites that provide reviews on a range of products from cameras and computers to furnaces and tires.

ConsumerSearch®

A librarian favorite, this Web site begins by gathering product reviews, analyzing those reviews, then using them to rate products.

Consumer Reports

Much of this Web site is designed for subscribers only, but it still provides excellent tips for buying different products. Copies of articles from the magazine can be found through InfoTrac's General Reference Center, a library resource. Using the Subject Guide Search, enter your product name in the Find field and Consumer Reports in the publication title field. There is a three month delay for full text articles, so if you need to see the most recent issues, stop by the Reference Desk at the Library.

Consumer Guide®

By How Stuff Works, this site is another which offers reviews by experts, although not all products have this level of review. Another nice feature are the buying guides.

Epinions.com

Consumers write the reviews on this site.

CNET Reviews

For reviews on technology products (cameras, laptops, cell phones, televisions) try CNET.com.

Sound & Vision Magazine

This site specializes in reviews and consumer information on home entertainment products. They offer buying tips, a resource center, information on specific products, and helpful articles.

Let us know which product review sites you like best by leaving a comment.

Other Local Libraries

Although the Wright Public Library is not affiliated with any other libraries, we often work with them to ensure that our patrons receive the materials and information they need.

Public Libraries

Locate other Ohio public libraries using Find an Ohio Public Library from OPLIN (Ohio Public Library Information Network).

University and College Libraries

Other Ohio college and university libraries can be searched through Ohiolink.

When looking for items Wright Library does not own, you can try the online catalogs of these other local libraries, or for a wider search and to have your items delivered to Wright Library for you to pick up, use Ohio Libraries Share MORE, a statewide resource sharing service supported by the State Library of Ohio.

As always, the Reference Staff can help you locate any item.  Just ask.
