Preventing and Coping with Foreclosure
Unfortunately, in these uncertain financial times some homeowners are facing the possibility of foreclosure. Numerous resources exist to help homeowners prevent, as well as deal with, foreclosure. A good place to start is Save the Dream - Ohio's Foreclosure Prevention Effort. The following resources provide additional information and access to programs designed to help homeowners.
Artist Hal Sherman will display his portraits of Ohio Indian Chiefs and talk about his work at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9. Sherman is a Shelby County native with a lifelong interest in Native American history and artifacts. He is a self-taught artist whose work has been featured on book jackets, in a PBS Simon Kenton film, and in a Canadian film about the Pontiac Indians. Examples of his paintings may be viewed in the Gallery on the Shawnee Bluejacket Web site.

The following resource list comes from a handout from the Investment Resources Workshop sponsored by the Reference Department. The Library has numerous investment and financial resources to help individual investors grow their money. Reference librarians are always glad to assist our patrons in learning about our resources and how to use them.
Financial Newsletters
Investment newsletters offer a happy medium between educating the investor and providing direct recommendations. They cover various sectors, markets, and investment philosophies. Which newsletter you follow will depend on what you wish to achieve through investing. The Hulbert Financial Digest monitors investment newsletter performance and may be a good place to start.

Back by popular demand, the Reference Department will present a demonstration of the basic tools and skills for finding information on the Internet. The program is designed to help those with little experience become more comfortable using the Internet.
Attendees of this demonstration program will be given the opportunity to sign up for an additional, hands-on session. The hands-on session will give attendees the opportunity to practice what they have learned.
With the on going financial crisis, many investors and want-to-be investors have questions about what strategies to use. The Library offers numerous investment resources (Find a list here.) and is offering a program to inform our patrons as to what they are and how to make use of them.

Join local Edward Jones financial advisor Bob Collins for general investing information with tips on using the Library's financial newsletters. A Wright Library Reference Librarian will introduce other investment resources available at the library.

This month's new reference books cover everything from law schools to baseball cards to charts of the night skies. Use others to research countries around the world, or find out where to get public records.
School has been in session for a month now and homework has become a fact of life for students. If you a student, or know a student, who could use some homework help are Featured Resource this month, the Student Research Center, is designed for students doing research. This easy to use database can be searched by keyword or by topic to find the most useful search results. Plus, results can be easily sorted by source type (magazines, reference books, photos, flags, etc.).
The Student Research Center is not the only resource that the Library makes available students. Our Homework Help databases include resources for students of all ages. Or your use our Databases by Category listings to find the databases specific to the topic you are researching.
