Film Awards
It's awards show season. Last night the Oscars were awarded (to relive the ceremonies view Entertainment Weekly's coverage), but there are many others giving out film awards. Compare winners between the following awards shows that have occurred in the last two months.
We missed the Grammy Awards, which were given out February 8th, and we thought there might be others who would like a reminder of who won the publicized awards as well as those that don't make the live show. The complete list of winners is available from the Grammy Awards Web site.
Events for the Dayton-area Community Big Read commence in March, but you can start reading right now. As announced earlier, this year's book is Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. Get more information about the book and the author at her Web site or watch the book trailer below.
Wright Library will be hosting two book discussions. The first will take place in the Library's Meeting Room on Sunday, March 22, at 3:00 p.m. The second will occur at the regular meeting of the On-the-Road at Starbucks Book Club, which will take place Tuesday, April 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Starbucks in Oakwood.
You can also join the discussion by leaving a comment here telling what you think of Nineteen Minutes. Click Add a Comment below, then scroll down to the comment form.
Those involved with the Oakwood Community initiative 40 Developmental Assets may find Nineteen Minutes especially relevant.
When the library (patrons and staff alike) was experiencing problems with the catalog, one of the most missed features of the catalog was the Recent Arrivals and Best Sellers lists. If you don't know about these and would like a good way to find out when the library gets new items, go to the Search tab in the Catalog and click on Best Sellers. The lists are updated routinely so you will always know the newest books, CDs, DVDs, etc. the library has in.
